Leading Telia’s activities in evaluating the international UMTS licence opportunities around Europe including:

·         presenting the business plans and strategic documents to the Telia Mobile and Telia AB.

·         participating in partner/consortia negotiations, including finalising MoUs, consortium agreements and shareholders’ agreements.

·         assisting the hiring of personnel and working closely with advisers (technical, legal and investment houses amongst which were KPMG, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Clifford Chance, Mannerheim and Schwartling and Questus) in developing business plans and in ascertaining markets and partner/consortia analysis for 3G licences in Europe.

·         Determining the role of MVNOs and service providers including how an operations company can be set up supporting MVNOs.

The result of the UK ad Germany auctions, Telia’s IPO process and market uncertainty entailed recommendations for a ‘no go’ for each project (outside the Nordic region). Represented International on Telia’s UMTS core group in deciding strategy (including technical solutions, procurement etc.).

Netia Holdings  were exploring the 3G-licence opportunity in Poland. Hired by the Board to evaluate the opportunity and jointly lead the development of the business plan along with external investment consultant firms Merrill Lynch and DLJ and telecommunication consultants Schema). Formulated a technical, procurement strategy and evaluated potential Consortium partners. Finally wrote and co-presented a report on the challenging opportunity to the Board.
